Waste Management Association of British Columbia (WMABC) – provides a forum for discussion, education and networking among waste management companies, recycling and processing firms and industry suppliers who work together to promote and plan for efficient, innovate industry solutions for BC. Emterra is an active member of WMABC.
Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) – has been the leading professional association in the solid waste field for close to 50 years. The association serves municipal solid waste professionals in Canada and the United States with conferences, certifications, publications, and technical training courses. Emterra is a sponsor of the SWANA 6th Canadian Conference at Niagara Falls, ON, April 22 -25, 2012.
Coast Waste Management Association (CWMA) – is the leading industry association in BC representing the private sector, local and regional governments and non-profit organizations. The association offers a forum to assist its diverse membership in meeting the challenges and opportunities of waste management in the region by facilitating communication and offering networking and educational opportunities for members regarding technical and important issues facing the industry. It serves as a local industry liaison and a member representative to raise public awareness about key waste-related issues. Emterra is a sponsor of the CWMA’s Annual Conference held in Victoria, BC.

Recycling Council of British Columbia (RCBC) – is a multi-sectoral, non-profit, membership driven organization that promotes the principles of zero waste through information services, the exchange of ideas and research and is Canada’s longest-serving recycling council. Since 1974, RCBC has led the way in spearheading B.C.’s progressive policy of Extended Producer Responsibility programs and other initiatives to find innovative ways to eliminate waste and decrease British Columbia's environmental footprint. Emterra is a sponsor of the 2012 Zero Waste Conference at Whistler, BC from May 23 – 25, 2012.
Municipal Waste Association (MWA) – formerly known as the Association of Municipal Recycling Coordinators, the MWA is a not-for-profit organization formed in 1987 by Ontario municipal waste management professionals to facilitate the sharing of municipal waste reduction and recycling information and experience. It works with the waste management industry to keep municipal waste management program operators informed by undertaking research and providing workshops and other specialized services. Emterra is a sponsor of the 2012 MWA Spring Workshop, AGM, and 25th Anniversary at Hockley Valley Resort from May 15-17, 2012.
Recycling Council of Ontario (RCO) – is a not-for-profit, independent, membership-based organization involved in policy, education and project work around the issues of consumption, waste generation, reduction and diversion, and recycling. To that end, its mission is to inform and educate all members of society about the generation of waste, the avoidance of waste, the more efficient use of resources and the benefits and/or consequences of these activities.

Manitoba Association of Regional Recyclers (MARR) – serves as the provincial forum and voice of the recycling industry. Founded in 1992, it exists as an organization of diverse recycling collectors and processors committed to promoting cost-efficient and effective recycling in Manitoba. MARR’s goals are to improve information sharing between its members, various levels of government, and other industry partners and organizations, enhance the recyclable material markets, develop stronger beneficial relationships with all stakeholders in order strengthen MARR’s negotiating and advocacy abilities, and aid its members to become more cost-efficient recyclers and environmental stewards.
National Solid Waste Management Association (NSWMA) – is a US-based trade association representing for-profit companies in North America that provide solid, hazardous and medical waste collection, recycling and disposal services, and companies that provide professional and consulting services to the waste services industry. Founded in 1962, NSWMA’s mission is to promote the management of waste in a manner that is environmentally responsible, efficient, profitable and ethical, while benefiting the public and protecting employees; and provide educational and training opportunities, research, and federal and state advocacy capability to its membership.
