Saskatoon, SK – July 30, 2025 – Emterra Tire Recycling (ETR), a division of the Emterra Group, is proud to announce it has been awarded the contract to process scrap tires in northern Saskatchewan following a competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
Founded in 1976 in Vancouver, BC, Emterra Group is a Canadian leader in resource recovery and sustainability - proudly family-owned and operated. ETR is one of Canada’s foremost suppliers of crumb rubber and a key contributor to Emterra Group’s recognition as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers year after year for the past decade.
“We are honoured to have been selected to support Saskatchewan’s tire recycling efforts,” said Emmie Leung, Founder and CEO of Emterra Group. “Our success through responding to the procurement process reflects our proven track record and our commitment to service delivery, sustainability, and investing in the province.”
As a Canadian-owned and operated company, Emterra is excited to deepen its footprint in Saskatchewan – the company has been operating a material recovery facility for packaging and paper in the province since 2013 and has made significant investments over the years.
The tire recycling facility will be located in the Saskatoon surrounding area, with the location to be finalized shortly.
“We are excited to have another industry leading processor investing in the province to give the required capacity to process the annual scrap tire volumes generated,” said TSS Board Chair Colin Fraser. “Emterra Tire Recycling, to be located near Saskatoon will eventually focus on higher value crumb production.”
ETR is committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders in the province to bring its collaborative mindset and decades of experience to the region. The company’s operations will help build Saskatchewan’s circular economy by processing scrap tires locally, supporting green jobs, and transforming valuable resources into new products.
“This expansion is not just about business growth - it’s about deepening our commitment to enhancing the circular economy in the communities we serve and contributing to a more sustainable future for Saskatchewan,” Leung added.
