Oakville, ON – April 23, 2025 – Emterra Group, a leader in recycling and waste-to-resource solutions, is proud to announce that it has been named one of Canada's Greenest Employers for the tenth consecutive year. This prestigious award, presented by Mediacorp Canada Inc., recognizes employers that lead the nation in creating a culture of environmental awareness and action.
“As a Canadian, family-owned business, this honour holds special significance for us this year,” expressed Paulina Leung, Chief Sustainability Officer at Emterra Group. “It reflects our deep-rooted commitment to sustainability and leveraging entrepreneurialism to make change, which started in 1976. Our dedication to environmental innovation and making a tangible difference reflects the principles that guide us as a family and as proud Canadians.”
Competition winners, selected by editors at Canada's Top 100 Employers, are evaluated using four main criteria: (1) unique environmental initiatives or programs they have developed; (2) whether they have been successful in reducing their own environmental footprint; (3) whether their employees are involved in these programs and contribute unique skills; and (4) whether their environmental initiatives have become linked to the employer's public identity, attracting new employees or customers.
Over the past decade, Emterra Group has implemented numerous initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint, engage employees in green practices, and contribute to the circular economy. In 2025 specifically, Emterra Group was selected for the award based on a range of environmental initiatives, including:
Introducing Ontario’s first electric recycling collection truck. The pilot project, in collaboration with one of Canada's rapidly expanding regions, also engaged a network of top universities to perform a thorough analysis of the collected data. The aim is to assist both public and private fleets in transitioning to zero-emission vehicles.
Being one of Canada's leading suppliers of recycled crumb rubber that is used to create new products such as pavers and flowerpots. The crumb rubber is sourced from recycled tires, which are collected and processed at Emterra Tire Recycling, a key division within Emterra Group's vertically integrated operations.

"This recognition is a testament to the incredible efforts and passion of our employees,” says Jennifer Malcolmson, Vice President of Human Resources. “Their innovative ideas and daily actions in growing the Canadian circular economy have been instrumental in making Emterra Group a leader in sustainability. We are proud to offer a workplace that aligns with our values and provides opportunities for our team members to make a real impact."
